The shorter each update is, the more likely I am to read it, really, so my vote is for 6 kittens, 2 per week.

I'd vote for 12 kittens, once a week.

Gives plenty of time for you to write it, and for the readers to catch up with and mull over whats been happening.

6, 2/week. I like updates that often because they keep me involved in the story. ~Wyst

I voted a sum for 12 kittens, since weekly serials sync the best with most people's schedules. You could even coordinate it with a group like #tuesdayserial or #fridayflash to insure additional attention, and never have such a group fall behind.
