Thank you

Wednesday afternoon. Classes were over, neither of Cya's clubs met on Wednesdays, and students almost never stayed after to talk to her about classes - making it the perfect combination of Cya being free and Leo knowing where she was. He'd picked it two weeks ago, but this time he was actually going to talk to her.

Leaving Athena in charge at the dojo, he quickly strode to Cya's office. There was no reason for him to be nervous, he mused to himself. Other than the still-lingering fear that doing something "out of character" would... well, it would be fine.

He stuck his head in the door way with a cheerful smile. "Hey Cya."

She looked up from writing with an answering smile of her own. "Hi, Leo. What can I do for you?"

"Well..." He stepped all the way into the room and closed the door quietly behind him. "I have something to tell you, if you have time."

"Of course." The speed with which she put her work away told Leo he was probably not doing as good a job hiding his nerves as he hoped.

"It's nothing serious," he quickly reassured her. "I just... I wanted to thank you. For..." He waved a hand vaguely. "Everything."

Her smile widened slightly. "You're welcome, but you don't need--"

"I do," he interrupted, a little too forcefully, then plowed on before she could react. "For myself, if nothing else, I want you to know how grateful I am, for letting me teach, build this school - this city - with you, and just... just for being there, you know?" He looked at her desk and focused on not pacing. It was a bad habit. "I don't know if you realize - Zita and I, we kept each other from getting into too much trouble but even with that, I've realized, if it weren't for you giving me a... a grounding point, I guess, a reason to keep coming back..." He swallowed; it was still hard to admit. "I don't think I would have survived this long. So... thank you."

Leo exhaled quietly and looked back up at Cya.
