A Dangerous Opponent
Leofric stared down his blade at his opponent, ignoring the rain water dripping down his hair and into his eyes. He had managed to chase it down to this dead-end alley and had it backed into a corner. The tip of his sword was mere inches from its nose; as he knew well, creatures - and people - were most dangerous when cornered. A distant peal of thunder rumbled faintly through the air.
His opponent stared back, unblinking, and mewed.
"You like cats," Zita pointed out, her tone casually matter-of-fact from beneath her umbrella.
"Which is exactly why a dragon would take the form of one to escape me." He frowned at the bedraggled kitten, radiating hostility.
The kitten mewed piteously back.
Zita considered her Keeper's point, tilting her head thoughtfully to one side, and nodded. "We could adopt it."
Leofric spared a moment from watching the kitten - who he was positive was nothing of the sort - to look at Zita incredulously. "Adopt it?"
"A dragon could be a fun pet." She grinned, flashing her row of sharp pointed teeth. "Maybe even as much as a real kitten."
Leofric stared down his blade at the dragon.
The kitten stared back.
"...Okay, fine. But you have to feed it."
